I am an artist and filmmaker, a mother of three, a survivor of sexual abuse, an educator, a writer, a film juror, and a lifelong learner. I serve on the Arts & Lectures committee at CSUSM where I work part-time for the Literature & Writing and Film Studies departments. I am currently pursuing a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (w/supplementary authorizations in English and Art) and I have the privilege of being a member of the second cohort of the CREATE Residency Program focused on arts integration in K-9 settings.
I often use my artwork as a platform to discuss important social issues, and I have received a number of recognitions for my creative work. My visual art has been published in magazines, exhibited in galleries and museums, and discussed on NPR. My films have screened at museums and in festivals on five continents. I have multiple film projects in progress, please visit the Projects page to learn more.
M.F.A. in Film and Television Production | B.A. in Art, Painting | Certificate in Color Science
Beyond achieving a terminal degree in fine art, I have completed thirty units of additional graduate level coursework in the areas of writing, literature, linguistics, contemporary art history, painting, and sculpture.
I love cats, cloudy rainy days, the smell of Strawberry Shortcake dolls, seeing my kids play together, film festivals, Gerber daisies, rainbows, playing Minesweeper, Lotus cars, floral print papers, taking IQ tests, Oregon, listening to music, and old film cameras.
Some of my favorite movies are In the Mood for Love, Amelie, Daisies, Sorry to Bother You, Pi, The Florida Project, and Buffalo '66.
